Learn about the high performance of the first net-zero building-Project Frog-at UH Manoa campus

Jim Maskrey, Hawaii Natural Energy Institute

Associate Specialist

Hawaii Natural Energy Institute's (HNEI) Jim Maskrey spoke on ThinkTech Hawaii about two sustainable building projects, net-zero energy classroom buildings called "Flexible Response to Ongoing Growth (FROG)" and residential detached homes in Kapolei, HI. UH's work is conducted through the School of Architecture's Environmental Research and Design Lab and the Sea Grant Center for Smart Building and Community Design with support from HNEI and others. The University of Hawaii faculty and students are monitoring the buildings' energy use, renewable energy production, thermal comfort, daylight levels, and indoor air quality as well as educating occupants on energy saving operations.
